Kihon Kata Ichi (basic kata one)

This is the most basic kata in JWK karate but there is so much more to learning it than just copying its shape. Nobody can learn to perform kata well enough by just watching a video and copying the moves This kata teaches the basic movements and use of the body to generate maximum power from the feet on the ground up to the point of impact. Our stances are now a little shorter in length than in these videos and there should not be any significant stoppages in each kata.

This is also very basic and important kata to learn from. It introduces neikoashi dachi which is of central importance in Jin Wu Koon Karate and features in most kata at intermediate and advanced levels. The turns and changes from Keiko ash dachi to zenkutsu dachi will help you learn all the Eaian kata and advanced blackbelt kata.

Dai Ichi Dosa

This is a much more complex kata with an emphasis on movement between shiko dachi and zenkutsu dachi. It also introduces maegeri, enpi and ura shuto. There are two kiai in this kata when there is a brief pause or about one second.

Chi No Kata (the kata of the earth)

This kata follows the same basic H pattern but with movement at 45-degree angles and punches at jodan level in places. Please also note that there are only two kiai that should be short, sharp, and intense.

Ten No Kata (the kata of the universe)
